Hi. I'm looking for a therapeutic massage exchange partner as I have recurring "knot" issues around my shoulder blades and lower back. . I have the skill sets to reciprocate with a quality massage experience. However, I would be certainly open to utilizing other skills to, in effect, barter.

If you have a good techniques with regard to deep tissue and relaxation massage, then I am already interested in your ability. Well, if you are not interested in getting a massage, then I could do some other things for you of which I am skilled. I am skilled in home remodeling and painting. For example, if you have a room you would like painted, I've got all the equipment and skill to accommodate. If you need a handyman repair, then I should be able to handle that as well. I also can train in the area of computers and music.

I really hate paying for massages when I have the same skills sets to give away as well as others :). I'm a Caucasian male with average height/weight just trying to escape those pesky headaches and discomfort that makes a good night's sleep a challenge. In general, I would prefer a female masseur.

Hello. We run a literary simulation/fantasy role playing game group based upon Tekumel, the World of the Petal Throne created by linguist and writer Professor M.A.R. Barker. Tekumel is a fictional setting based somewhat on Sumerian/Aztec/Persian elements but infused with magic, gods, strange races and alien flora and fauna.

The setting has a very detailed culture and geography. Players create a character somewhat in the manner that a writer creates a character for a novel or short story and by means of this character explore and experience the world of the Petal Throne. One player unfolds a narrative account which these characters participate in collectively. Dice are used to simulate the role of fate in resolving character actions such as warfare and spell casting, and maps are laid out on the table along with miniature models of the characters that represent thier movements and appearance. It can be quite engaging due to tactical enocunters with inimical forces, the vastness of the word being discovered and beheld in the imagination, and the interest one has in the sucess and wellbeing of the character you have created. I call it literary simulation because it is similar to the process of creating fiction in intelecual "3D".

Ideal players to me would be mature people who love fantasy and science fiction literature, history and sociology, and exploring religious ideas through the ideals of the game. I personally am a Christian and do not accept Tekumel's ideals of polytheism and magic, and nor did the game's creator, who happened to be an American convert to Islam. But in Tekumel the "gods" are actually powerful interstellar beings who appears as gods to the people of Tekumel. "Magic" is eally the manipulation of other planar energies or the use of ancient techonological artifacts whose makers were actually spacefaring races but who have been gone for so long that the people of Tekumel regard them as sorcerers. One thing that makes Tekumel fun is that it is only a game and you don't have to buy the setting at all in a personal sense but your character does so you diret his or her actions in that knowledge. Tekumel is not based upon a Western world view, so as a game it is doubly engaging because its a place where you step outside of that as a purely intellectual exercise. To me, really, it only re-affirms to me my own deeply held beliefs, it doesn't challenge them at all. You can see from this why we want intelligent and thoughtful players.

In Tekumel, children are raised communally in clan houses. Slavery is as prevalent as any ancient earth civilization, as are multitudinous temples of the 20 gods of Tekumel where many strange (and sometimes dark) rituals take place. An elaborate social caste must be honored and climbed accordingly or dire consequences can result, including impalement! And from the Golde Tower of Avanthar in the glorious city of Bey Su, the words of the Emperor of the Petal Throne are the same as the words of the gods. People sometimes fight to the death in the Hirilakte arenas to the delight of the crowds and rulers. Now you are getting the idea that Tekumel is a very different kind of place! This game can really bring out your artistic and writing skills too. Also, lively discussions about various social themes can take place. But the game play itself takes prescendent to these talks.

With Tekumel, you must forget much of what you have heard or been told about fantasy roleplaying. Its not simply a social escape for socially disaffected people---that bias against role playing games may have some basis in fact but we are fine socially, we play Tekumel because we are creative people who enjoy using our imagination and exploring the ideas behind Tekumel. That's why I call it literary simulation.
